Coleraine parent Graeme Watton has raised £1,350 towards the Learning Support Unit at Coleraine College.
This money, sorely for the Learning Support Unit at the school is in recognition of the fantastic help my son Jude who has Autism, was raised during Graeme;’s 50th Birthday celebrations when Graeme had the idea instead of birthday presents at his special birthday celebrations in the Coronation Sports and Recreation Club, he would accept donations towards Coleraine College’s Learning Support Unit instead.
A card with a message from family and friends meant more to Graeme, when he held a 50th Birthday bash in the Coronation Sports and Recreation Club in Ballyrashane on Saturday 29th April, he had ask those attend to kindly donate in a free will offering for Jude’s Unit on the night instead of buying gifts or presents and the amount was overwhelmingly humbling.
Graeme said: “The School and the teachers who not only teach these kids but nurture and develop their many skills, is second to none, and this is my small way of saying thank you for their time and efforts over the year Jude attended Coleraine College.
“I hope to do more fundraising in the future especially with all the budget cuts to the education sector, I hope my wee contribution. will help to ease the pressure.
