In a nostalgic post, W&J Walkers have paid tribute to its founders, William & John, as they celebrates a ‘Diamond’ milestone of trading in Ballymoney.

The family run business has been a familiar sight on the Main Street of Ballymoney for sixty years and still very much one which has been ‘kept in the family’ with many of the employees part of the extended family.

Many Children over that time will have fond memories visiting the toy department upstairs, perhaps for a small treat on a Saturday afternoon or to spend Birthday money. It’s even been rumoured Santa goes nowhere else for His shopping list!

Alongside a picture of founders William and his brother John Walker, the family wrote:

“60 Years In Business, What An Achievement, William Walker on the 8th August 1960 began trading in a small shop across from the current premises and moved into 26 main street in 1963 And In 1968 His brother John walker joined him and John is still working in the shop today.”

From Christmas wish lists, to setting up first homes, W&J Walkers has been there, at the heart of Ballymoney for 60 years.

Through good times and bad, including the latest pandemic, the family run independent business continues to show why it’s lasted the test or time – hard work, dedication and loyalty – leaving it in good stead for future generation to take up the challenge for the next 60 years.
