Drivers urged to beware of cyclists

More and more cyclists across the country chose to cycle to work and the cycle networkS in Northern Ireland has improved over the years to allow safer travel.

There has also been an increase in amateur cyclists and cycle clubs popping up in recent years, all leading to more bikes on our roads.

Police have gave some good advice to motorists travelling alongside these cyclists or overtaking, telling drivers;

“Drivers be aware of cyclists and motorcyclists on your commute and always allow a minimum of 1.5m when overtaking a cyclist.”
