Not everyone will receive a Birthday card from The Queen, certainly not one which comes with a letter giving you a promotion.
But that’s exactly what Captain Tom Moore will be waking up to this morning, as the Queen promotes the WWII army veteran to the rank of ‘Honorary Colonel’ to mark his 100th Birthday.
Having raised close to £30m for the NHS from walking lengths of his backyard, Tom the first Honorary Colonel of the Army Foundation College in Harrogate, will also receive not one but two flypasts in him honour.
One from the Army Air Corps helicopters and the other from a Spitfire and a Hurricane.
Tom has already received thousands of Birthday cards and well wishes, which have had to be sent and sorted at a local school, but the one dropping inside his door this morning might just have a special place all of its own in His home today.
Happy Birthday Colonel Tom Moore!
