Ahead of Harvest, pupils and staff from Kilmoyle Primary School have been collecting for the Ballymoney Foodbank.

The school in the rural village of Ballybogey handed over the donations to Peter Rollins, Ballymoney Foodbank Director, whilst taking the opportunity to welcome the school’s new principal Mr Jeff Scott.

A school representative said, “This year is an exciting year for the school as they welcome their new principal Jeff Scott and are looking forward to all that he can bring to the school, the children and the community.”

Speaking following the handover of the food donations, new Principal Jeff Scott said: “Kilmoyle Primary School have been collecting for Ballymoney Foodbank for Harvest. The past few years have been very difficult for a number of families, meaning charities like Foodbank have become an even more important help to those families in need.

“COVID-19 has also meant that at Kilmoyle Primary School they have not been able to celebrate harvest in the normal way but that has not stopped the generosity of this school community.

“This week the classes have been preparing songs, poems and stories that will form their virtual assembly this year and will be published on the school Facebook page in the middle of the week. Follow along if you are keen to see what they have prepared.”
