A new food business has taken over the previously dormant cafe at the Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre.
Food & Froth announces last week that they would be opening up the new cafe and described themselves as ‘a bright, colourful and positively welcoming coffee shop and eatery offering tasty nosh for breakfast and lunch.’
The cafe at the leisure centre has been closed for sometime now, leaving a gap in the services provided by them.
Cllr Darryl Wilson put the question to council back in 2016 as to why the cafe was vacant for some 28 months by that time, or why the council weren’t acquiring rent from it.
A recent welcomed tender saw the successful business ‘Food & Froth’ acquire the cafe and will be serving food to both leisure centre users and the general public.
Speaking about the reopening of the cafe facilities, Cllr Wilson said;
“After a lengthy fight to see the JDLC cafe be put out to tender. Delighted to confirm that it will reopen soon.”
