New Coleraine based Community Radio station delayed amidst COVID-19 crisis

A community radio station that will service Coleraine and surrounding towns, have been granted a delay to its launch by regulators OFCOM.

Awarded the licence in 2018, the community radio station had two years to begin broadcasting.

The new station was to launch last month, but due to COVID-19, circumstances made that difficult given current regulations.

The regulator OFCOM, who govern radio licensing and compliance, have now granted an extension to the stations launch and the hope is that once the situation allows, the station will commence broadcasting.

The name of the station hasn’t yet been revealed but once up and running, the studio will be based and broadcast from Beresford House in Coleraine and early testing of their frequency 106.4, suggest the reach to also include Ballymoney, Portstewart, Portrush and Inishowen Peninsula, as well as Coleraine.

The station will be available on FM and online.
