Storey: ‘every child should have the chance to succeed’

DUP MLA Member Mervyn Storey has encouraged schools, families, community groups and individuals concerned about educational underachievement in North Antrim to complete a survey being run by the Expert Panel set up by the Education Minister to look into these issues.

Commenting on the survey, which runs until midnight on Friday 16 October 2020, Mr Storey said: ‘‘The DUP believes that every child, regardless of their background, should have the chance to succeed.

It is crucial that we get to grips with links between poor educational outcomes for our children and social disadvantage – particularly among working class Protestant boys. I know this is an issue that worries many in our own community here in North Antrim. It is important that our children are not left behind.

“The current survey is a therefore a useful opportunity for anyone with an interest or view in this area to provide evidence to the Expert Panel and help inform its recommendations.”
