SDLP Councillor Angela Mulholland has spoken of her ‘delight’ that the council have agreed ‘in principle’ to introduce a policy to support female council staff members who are experiencing the menopause.
The motion put forward by Cllr Mulholland was supported by fellow Councillor, Margaret Anne McKilliop, as well as other representatives from all parties in council.
Making comment about the motion, Cllr Mulholland said:
“The menopause should not be treated as a secret or an embarrassment and women should be supported within the workplace during this often stressful and difficult stage in a women’s life.
“This motion was also focused on encouraging other employers in the council area to introduce similar policies.”
