Man who bit bouncer ordered to appear in front of the court

A man who bit a bouncer outside a Portstewart nightclub has been ordered by a District Judge to appear in front of the court due to the seriousness of the charges.

A Coleraine Magistrates Court on October 26 sitting at Ballymena Court, Mark O’Neill with an address is listed as Denamona Drive Fintona is charged with common assault and disorderly behaviour in the vicinity of the Promenade Portstewart.

The Prosecution told the court that on December 8, 2019, the defendant was observed assaulting an unknown person at the Anchor Bar Complex in Portstewart before bouncers removed him. The court heard that during his removal from the premises, the defendant bit one of the bouncers.

District Judge Liam McNally said that due to the seriousness of the charge he would have to see the defendant in front of the court.

The case was adjourned for sentencing to November 2.
