Alpha 1 Dog Hotel, located at 109 Drumboe Road, Coleraine, provides dog kennelling and dog training services to customers. The business received funding of £30,000 through the NI Rural Development Programme after a successful application to the Rural Business Investment Scheme was approved. The approved project involved the construction of a new dog-kennel facility including most notably a number of “deluxe accommodations” features such as double-glazing, soft furnishings and televisions.
The business is owned by Mr Ian Eccles, who has been passionately training dogs for over 30 years. Mr Eccles reflected on the completion of the project and establishment of his new service, saying “Starting up a new business is not an easy task however it has been an exciting and rewarding journey. I would like to thank the Local Action Group for making this funding available and for their support throughout the application.”
Commenting on the project, the LAG Chair, Anthony McGarvey said “I congratulate Ian on implementing his funded project and hope his success inspires other potential entrepreneurs in the area. The LAG remains extremely keen to provide funding for both new and existing businesses in rural areas, so I encourage any interested parties to get in contact with our administration unit.”
Causeway Coast and Glens Local Action Group is open for applications to both the Rural Business Investment Scheme and the Rural Basic Services Scheme (community/voluntary projects) in October 2018.
