A man in his 20s arrested by detectives investigating a report that a petrol bomb had been thrown at a property in the Glenvara Drive area of Coleraine in the early hours of yesterday, Monday 20th June, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for information about the incident, which was reported shortly before 12:05 am.

East Londonderry MLA Claire Sugden has condemned those behind a petrol bomb attack on a Coleraine home this morning (June 20).

The attack, in which two petrol bombs were used, was carried out shortly after midnight in the Glenvara Drive area.

“Any kind of attack like this must be strongly and roundly condemned,” Ms Sugden said.

“Those behind this targeted and cold-blooded attack must be brought to justice.

“It is simply unacceptable. People have the right to live without the fear of this kind of violence and it is sheer good fortune that no-one was injured – or worse – in this incident.

“Our communities deserve better than this and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything, to contact police on 101 quoting reference 4 of 20/06/22.”
