The Coastguard helicopter 199 from Prestwick was called earlier on Sunday to evacuate a casualty following fall this morning.

The casualty fell near Elephant Rock at the Harbour.

Also in attendance at the incident were HEMS NI Air Ambulance, Coastguard teams from Coleraine & Ballycastle and NIAS.

The causalty was taken to Causeway Hospital at Coleraine.

Sinn Féin Councillor, Cara McShane, has praised the quick response of the emergency services to an incident at Ballintoy harbour on Sunday morning.

“A man was rescued after falling from the Elephant rock, located between Ballintoy harbour and Whitepark Bay.

“While his injuries are not thought to be life threatening, I want to commend the speedy response of all the emergency services in attending to the casualty and bringing him safely to Causeway hospital.

“The seas were particularly stormy today and this was no doubt a frightening experience for everyone involved. I want to wish the man a speedy recovery and thank all those who were called out to the scene.”
