Ballymoney: Body found after police respond to flat on Main Street

Police were called earlier this Morning to a flat on Main Street Ballymoney following a report of a sudden death.

On arrival police discovered the body of a female. Forensics were also in attendance and the the scene secured while an examination of the flat was carried out.

A spokesperson for the PSNI has said:

“Police attended the sudden death of a woman in the Main Street area of Ballymoney this morning, Wednesday 12 August. At this time, the death is not being treated as suspicious.”

As is normal procedure in an unexplained sudden death, the body of the female will undergo a post mortem. At this time no further details around the circumstance are available.

North Antrim MLA, Mervyn Storey said: 

“Regrettably, police have confirmed that a body was discovered of a women in a flat in Main St Ballymoney earlier today.

“A post-mortem I understand will be carried out to establish the cause of death, it is also I understand that no one else is being sought in relation to this death.

“It is sad that the family and friends of the deceased will be given this sad news.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.
