The littering of Cigarette butts continues to remain the top reason for the issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) by private litter enforcement contractors, WISE across Causeway Coast & Glens.
Between August 2, 2021, and March 31, 2022, WISE issued 1249 FNP’s for Cigarette butts, at a cost of £75,760, making up 57% of all fines issued.
This compares to only 80 FPNs for dog fouling in the same period.
