Cllr McLaughlin welcomes street light repairs

Sinn Féin councillor Cathal McLaughlin has welcomed news that street lighting repairs will begin again over the coming days and weeks.

Speaking about the the repairs, Cllr Mclaughlin said:

“In response to my query on when street lighting repairs will begin again the street lighting department has confirmed that street light repairs will happen within a short period of time in the wider Ballymoney area.

“I am pleased that lighting will be brought back up to standard as this has become a health and safety issue, especially in areas where multiple lights were out.

“While I welcome this news we should never had been put in the situation where lamps were allowed to remain out for such a long time. I am calling on the Minister for Infrastructure to ensure that when all current lighting repairs have been completed that the necessary funding is ring fenced to ensure that repairs can be carried out on a regular basis so that we do not end up in the situation again where there are lengthy delays and areas are left with no lighting for long periods of time.”
