The gentleman who died as a result of yesterday evenings RTC on the Drones Road, has been named locally as Francis Watson.
The RTC occurred just outside the village of Armoy on the Drones Road between Knockaholet Road and the Frosses Road roundabout.
Two vehicles were involved in the RTC which was reported shortly before 7pm.
The PSNI have said:
“”An investigation into the circumstances of the collision is underway and officers would ask anyone who witnessed the collision or who was driving in the area and has dash-cam footgae which could assist their enquiries to contact them at the collision investigation unit on 101 quoting reference number 1645 06/02/20.”
Mervyn Storey MLA has expressed his sympathy with the family of the gentleman.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the gentleman who tragically lost his life in this road accident.
“The PSNI recently reported that the number of fatalities on our roads over the Christmas period has risen sharply compared to the same period last year. It is a matter of deep regret that lives are continuing to be lost in this way.
“I want to pay tribute the emergency services for their dedication in dealing with this incident and encourage anyone who may have information on the circumstances to contact the PSNI.’’
