Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) responded to a call-out at a former poultry factory in Ballymoney on Friday evening following reports of a fire.
The incident at the derelict factory – formally Fleming Poultry on the Ballymena Road Ballymoney – was reported at around 9:30 pm, with appliances from both Ballymoney and Coleraine responding.
When contacted by the Ballymoney Bubble, a spokesperson for NIFRS said that Fire Officers dealt with a “small fire” inside the building, confirming it was a “deliberate ignition”.
Quick response by fire crews ensured the fire was dealt with before it had a chance to spread.
Before the incident, there had been local reports of several youths sighted in the area, but these remain unconfirmed at this time.
