Iceland dismiss rumours on Twitter of Ballymoney store

Iceland has shutdown rumours of a new store anytime soon in Ballymoney, in a reply to a twitter post.

Rumours have circulated for several years about the possible arrival of the frozen food giant to the town, firstly after Dunnes closed, with many believing the then vacant building would be ideal.

More recently the rumour reared its head again when Lidl announced it’s move to a new bigger store currently being constructed, which would eventually leave its current store vacant.

But this seems very unlikely after the idea was dismissed in a reply to a twitter post.

A local Twitter user posted – ‘Is it true that @IcelandFoods is coming to our local town Ballymoney in Co. Antrim Northern Ireland ??! Would be great if so !!’

Iceland quickly replied with – ‘Unfortunately, I’m not aware of any plans to open a new store in Ballymoney at present. However, we will certainly pass this on for consideration!’
