‘life threatening’ Kilrea RTC prevented by ‘speedy response’

A ‘potentially life threatening’ RTC outside Kilrea on Saturday was prevented by a ‘speedy response’ from the public and emergence services, the PSNI have said.

The Police have thanked those involved in attending the serious RTC, posting the following picture along with a statement on social media this morning.

“A huge shout out and Thank You to all the Emergency services namely, the Northern Ireland Fire Service , Ambulance Service and the members of the Public who helped out with a serious Road Traffic Collision yesterday evening just outside of Kilrea.

“With the Speedy response of the Fire Service and the vast amount of tools they carry on board two trapped persons where safely extracted from one vehicle and transferred to hospital for treatment whilst the other driver involved was thankfully walking wounded and taken for treatment also.

“If it wasn’t for all of these People and Services working together namely, 1 Fire Commander, 3 Fire Appliances, 3 Ambulances, 2 Police Cars & Vehicle recovery this operation would of not only taken longer but the treatment of those trapped would of only been prolonged and potentially life threatening!
