The RNLI have announced that Lifeguard services at both Benone and Castlerock beaches are currently out of operation.

The reason for the decision is precautionary due to two lifeguards showing symptoms which may be linked to COVID-19.

“In line with current regulations the lifeguards are immediately receiving a test and will not return to duty until a negative result is confirmed.” A spokesperson said on behalf of the RNLI

“Prior to the lifeguard service resuming and working with the local authority, a deep clean of the facility will be completed. We will resume the service when it is safe to do so. Thank you for your support.
