A member of the Portrush Lifeboat crew has been injured while on a shout Saturday afternoon.
The volunteer crew had responded to a call to assist the rescue of five fishermen just past Malin Head, whose trawler had got into difficulties after losing power.
The RNLI have said that;
“The trawler had also had the wheelhouse windows shattered due to the severity of the weather conditions.”
The spokesperson for the Portrush Lifeboat station went on to confirm that a crew member was injured during the rescue, saying;
“Portrush crew have returned to station with one crew member having sustained an injury due to the very difficult weather conditions.
“The crew member has been transferred to hospital for assessment.”
The recovery operation was a joint effort alongside RNLI Lough Swilly and RNLI Arranmore.
