Local male caught in child grooming sting

Late Sunday night a male from the Dunloy area was caught in a sting carried out by a group connected to 'Silent Justice' in relation to the grooming of a 14-year-old girl (a decoy in this case).

Silent Justice is a UK wide group of sexual predator hunters. In this case a group from Northern Ireland posed as a 14-year-old girl and started chatting to the male in question who they have accused of sending indecent images as well as requesting them from the 14 year old (decoy). They also accuse him of inciting the 14 year old (decoy) to engage in sexual activities.

The silent justice group late Sunday (6th August) night made their way to the males property and confronted him and made a 'citizens arrest' while at the same time informing the police.

On arrival, the group handed over the male and their evidence to the PSNI.

We contacted the PSNI for more information regards the incident.

We do not comment on named individuals and no inference should be drawn from this.

For the protection of the other family members and the potential case against the male, we have chosen not to name the male in question at this time.

Remember to Keep an eye on your child's online activity. It's better for you to be an annoyance to your child than for them to be caught up in something like this.
