Mervyn Storey, MLA for North Antrim, met with Mick Mulvaney the currently acting White House Chief of Staff.
Mr Storey also met at the meeting the US Ambassador to the UK Robert Wood Johnston.
Mervyn Storey said following the meeting:
“It is always beneficial to meet with representatives from the US. Northern Ireland has so many, economic, social and historical links with the United States, and no less Ballymoney.
“The 25th President of the United States was of course William McKinley and we have a number of local companies with strong economic and commercial links.
Mick Mulvaney is a former Congressman and now serving as acting Chief of Staff for President Trump was interested to hear about current political issues but also what was going on at a local level.
“As a keen golfer he was very impressed that Northern Ireland hosted the 148th Open Golf Championship and was very complementary about Royal Portrush.
“To continue our engagement with representatives from the US administration, Consul General of the United States Elizabeth Kennedy Trudeau will be visiting Ballymoney soon.”
