A man has died following an RTC on the Garryduffy Road outside the village of Dunloy.
He has been named locally as Desmon Wilson (59).
The crash involved two vehicles and the road was closed with diversions in place from the Garryduff Road/Burnquarter Road junction and the Garryduff Road/Station Road junction. The road has since been re-opened.
Local Councillor, Cathal McLaughlin has offered his ‘condolences to the mans family’ and hopes for a ‘quick recovery’ to the driver of the other vehicle.
A spokesperson for the police have said:
“Police can confirm that 59 year old Desmond Wilson, who was from the Ballymoney area has died following a two vehicle road traffic collision at the Garryduff Road area of Dunloy this morning (Friday 24th January).
“Just before 7:35am, it was reported that a white Citroen Berlingo and a Peugeot 2008 were involved in the collision. Desmond, who was the driver of the Peugeot tragically died at the scene.
“The driver of the Citroen Berlingo was taken to hospital for his injuries, which are not believed to be life threatening.
“The Garryduff Road, Dunloy has now re-opened following the earlier road traffic collision.
“Enquiries are continuing and police would appeal to anyone with any information regarding the incident or who may have dash cam footage available to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 202 24/01/20.”
