A child has been hospitalised following an animal attack in Garvagh. A spokesperson for NIAS said "The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 14:11 on Sunday 26 April 2020 following reports of an animal attack Drumeen Drive, Garvagh. NIAS despatched one Emergency crew to the scene. The Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS crew on board were also tasked to the incident." Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was transported by road to the Royal Victoria Hospital for Children, Belfast.

The man who was rescued on Friday afternoon after becoming trapped under his tractor near Armoy, has sadly died.

Named locally as John Jamison (79) of the Bregagh Road Armoy, was transported to the Royal Victoria Hospital by Air Ambulance where he later died.

Mr Jamison, a local sheep farmer, was reported to have been discovered by his brother on Friday morning trapped under his tractor with crush injuries to both legs – before being rescued by a telehandler prior to the arrival of emergency services.

It was suggested earlier that the casualty had been trapped for up to three days but local sightings of Mr Jamison the previous day, conflicting this, may suggest it was less than a day. The duration has yet to be confirmed.

Thoughts with wider family circle at this time.
