McLaughlin – ‘austerity is impacting on the most vulnerable in society’

Sinn Féin councillor Cathal McLaughlin has said the policy of austerity is impacting on the most vulnerable in society.
Cllr McLaughlin, at tonight’s Environmental Services committee said:

“The cut to the Affordable Warmth budget is a direct result of the Tory government’s austerity agenda now supported by the DUP which has removed more than £1 billon from the block grant and frontline services year on year.

“The Affordable Warmth scheme is an important project that helps tackle the issue of fuel poverty and any reduction in the budget will impact the most vulnerable in society not only here in north Antrim but all over the north.
