The DUP MLA for East Londonderry, Maurice Bradley has been in contact and thanked Invest NI for their swift response in relation to a Travellers’ camp that has been illegally set up on their land.

Appearing at the beginning of the week, the camp has been located at the Wattstown Business Park, near the housing estate of Windyhall.

At this time it is believed to be populated by Romany Travellers who may be from France.

In a statement Bradley said:

“My office has been contacted by several residents and nearby businesses who have raised concerns about the presence of the camp.

“ I understand that the Travellers set up camp last Friday and have been in situ since then.

“The land at Wattstown is owned by Invest NI. I had discussions with them today and I have been assured that they and are doing all that they can, by working with the relevant bodies, to have those who are illegally based on their land moved on.”
