Murder accused appears before Ballymena Magistrates’ court

A 53-year-old man has appeared before Ballymena Magistrates’ court this morning accused with the killing of Kathleen ‘Katie’ Brankin on Monday (July 12) evening.

Her partner Thomas Davidson, (53) from Collinward Avenue Newtownabbey – appearing via video link from Coleraine custody – is charged with the murder of Ms Brankin on Monday evening after she was stabbed at a Limavady Glamping site.

The victim, also from the Newtonabbey area, was on holiday when she was found on the decking of her glamping pitch with injures. Despite all efforts, Ms Brankin was later pronounced decrease at the scene.

A police officer in the case told the court he believed he could connect the defendant to the charge.

The defendant was remanded to custody and will appear via video link before the Magistrates’ court again on August 11.
