There has been a number of car break-ins reported overnight in the Castleroe Road area of Coleraine.
Cars were broken into sometime between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, with a number of items stolen from the various vehicles.
These items have included wallets & purses, a watch, laptop and diesel, according to one local resident. There has also been reports of damage to cars having their seat belts cut.
The break-ins were firstly reported in the Castlehill area of Coleraine, with a number also said to have been discovered later a short distance away in the Glenara Woods area.
Police have conducted door to door enquiries and have released the following:
“Police received reports that between 9pm on Tuesday (17th December) and 8am on Wednesday (18th December) nine vehicles had been broken into in the Glenara Woods area and the Castlehill area of Castleroe.
“A number of items have been taken from some of the vehicles, including cash and a laptop.
“Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or anyone who may have information which could assist with the investigation.
“We’re keen to remind people never to leave valuables of any kind in unattended vehicles, and please make sure that your vehicle is locked. Please don’t make it easy for the opportunistic thief.
“We fully investigate all reports, and would highlight the need for people to report suspicious activity as soon as possible.
