Portstewart Councillor, Mayor Alderman Mark Fielding has asked that vehicles park sensibly outside the Diversity Park at Flowerfield Portstewart.
Alderman Fielding said: “ Vehicles are encouraged to use the car park at the rear of Flowerfield Arts Centre, however while cars can park on Agherton Road adjacent to the Diversity Play Park, a number continue to mount onto the footpath perhaps not aware that they are obstructing wheelchair users, prams and pushchairs resulting in them having to walk out onto the road rather than use the footpath.
“I welcomed the opening of the Play Parks following their closure due to Covid-19 restrictions but the manner in which vehicles are parked since the Park has opened is the same which has led to complaints in the past.
“I witnessed on a number of days vehicles parked in such a way that would prevent wheelchair users, prams and pushchairs from using the footpath and I would therefore ask to avoid this re-occurring that drivers when they park their vehicle do so sensibly and responsibly.”
