‘Pavement Café’ upcoming licence information sessions

Two information sessions have been organised for local food business owners who serve food to customers outside their premises, at on street furniture – termed a ‘pavement cafe’.

Pavement Cafés have become a familiar sight in many towns and villages.

But did you know that with The Licensing of Pavement Cafes Act (Northern Ireland) 2014 now in force, a licence is required for this type of activity?

A Pavement Café Licence authorises a person who operates a business involving the supply of food or drink to place furniture on a public area for use by customers. This includes cafés, restaurants, pubs, retail outlets providing refreshments, takeaways and supermarkets with deli counters.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is holding two information seminars for those who currently operate a Pavement Café or are thinking of doing so.  All agencies involved in granting the Pavement Café Licence will be in attendance to guide you through the application process.

The seminars will cover:

Legislation
Application & Costs
Suitability criteria
Council powers

The seminars will be held in CRUN Conference Room, 1 Brook Street, Coleraine, BT52 1PW on Tuesday 12th November. There are two time slots to choose from:

9.30am – 10.30am or 2.30pm – 3.30pm
