Peacock welcomes the allocation of £20.3 million to local councils.

Sinn Fein Councillor, Leanne Peacock, has welcomed the allocation of £20.3 million to local councils.

The Local Sinn Féin Councillor welcomed the announcement from the Minister for Communities, Deirdre Hargey that extra financial support to the tune of £23.3 million is being allocated to local councils.

“I welcome today’s announcement by the Communities Minister that £20.3 million will be allocated to local councils.

“This money will help offset some of the additional costs and financial pressure councils have faced as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is important that there is an all government approach in the fight against COVID-19 and local government will play a vital role as they are on the front line of essential service provision to communities.”
