The PSNI have revealed that a telephone scam was reported in Bushmills by an elderly lady and have issued advice to the public.
A spokesperson for the PSNI said;
“Folks there has been a telephone scam reported yesterday in the Bushmills area whereby a scammer called an 82 yr old lady pretending to be a Police Officer and left her a voicemail informing her that there was an arrest warrant out in her name.
They then instructed the lady to call a certain telephone number back then press 3 on their handset to sort the matter out.
Thankfully the victim did not ring the number back as no doubt the scammer would have been looking their bank details to sort out the alleged arrest warrant.
Please remember not to give out your bank account details etc over the phone and report any suspicious activity to Police.
