This followed a collision where a barricade at Rasharkin Park, smashed through the vehicles passenger side front window.

Sinn Féin Cllr Peacock said,: “A local elderly lady was leaving after her daily walk at Rasharkin walkway when the barricade, which was unsecured, flew out and through the windscreen on her car.

“The barricade passed centimetres from her head passing right through into the back of the car, thankfully she was physically unharmed but badly shaken.

“ The fact that this incident happened and the barricade was left unsecure is of concern, this could have seen much more serious consequences but the most important thing is that the lady is ok and the barricade is now secured ensuring that this cannot happen again.

“ I would like to thank the council staff who acted swiftly to attend the scene and send my best wishes once again to the lady involved and her family.”
