One of the #THEOPEN signs erected as part of the golf last year has been damaged, transforming it into an alternative message.
The sign has been transformed into the word HOPE by covering a number of letters with black spray paint.
The hashtag symbol was also spray painted with the words ‘save portrush’.
It’s unclear who carried out this ‘transformation’ but it may have been a reaction to a number of issues including car parking charges, cancellation of the Air Show and Pipe band competition and recent failed attempt to place a building preservation order on Barry’s Amusements.
