Serious emergency incident declared at Cushendall beach

A serious emergency incident was declared on Saturday evening in Cushendall following a swimmer reported as getting into difficulty on the beach.

The NIFRS, Red Bay Lifeboat, NIAS crews, HM Coastguard Rescue Helicopter form Prestwick including Coastguards from Ballycastle & Larne attended the scene.

Following the rescue a casualty was transferred form the scene by NIAS to Hospital.

At this time it is not known what the individuals injuries are.
