Significant head injury caused to man who stumbled on rocks

Coleraine Coastguard team and NIAS paramedics were called to an injured man this evening on the coast road outside Portstewart.

Responding to the call at 4:50 near the pumping station, the emergency teams found a man who had stumbled on rocks and sustained a significant head injury.

A spokesperson has said: “The injured man was treated by a rapid response paramedic, before being carried to safety in a stretcher by the Coastguard Team.

“He was then taken to hospital by ambulance.”
