Sinn Féin Councillor Calls for Old playpark Site to be sold on – Mclaughlin

Sinn Féin Councillor Cathal Mclaughlin has called on Causeway Coast and Glens Council to sell the site of the old play park in Cloughmills village.

Councillor Mclaughlin said:

“The old playpark has been unused and laying in a state of disrepair for a number of years now. Unfortunately of late some young people are using it as a location to gather and drink.

“As the land serves no useful purpose and is posing a danger to the people of the area I have been working with Council officials to have the site sold at the earliest possible time.

“This particular piece of land would be ideal for a small housing development as the access is already there.

“Neighbours have told me that the rubbish that has been left behind on the site is now starting to attract vermin, so something has to be done as quickly as possible.

“In the meantime I would urge parents to speak to their children about the danger this land poses.”
