‘Suspicious Approach’ on girl in Portrush

Police are appealing for witnesses following the report of a suspicious approach towards a girl in Portrush yesterday evening (Saturday 31st August).

Inspector Stephen Burns said: “We received a report just after 7:20pm that roughly five to 10 minutes earlier, as the girl was walking along Coleraine Road, the male driver of a white van parked close to a bus stop opened the door and asked her if she wanted to get inside the vehicle.

“The suspect is described as being aged between 40 to 50 years old with untidy grey hair, bald on top, and wore a grey T-shirt with black shorts and flip flops. The male reportedly had what was described as a black and brown ‘Yorkie’ dog with him, which had a collar that was pink with white dots.”

Anyone who was in the area and who saw this male in the van or witnessed the interaction with the girl is asked to contact police on 101.
