Next of our local council candidate profiles for the Ballymoney DEA, is UUP’s Tom McKeown

Mr Tom McKeown will be yet again standing on behalf of the UUP in the Ballymoney DEA.

Tom is married with two children and was brought up in Ballymoney

Tom who owns and runs ‘McKeowns Aerials’ in Ballymoney for many years has also served the people of the town for over 20 years. Through his day to day job fitting aerials, Tom is in a position to meet a variety of people and as such no doubt hears the local issues that affect them, well placing Tom to fight for issues that matter to the electorate.

Tom also serves as an Elder in the Church of God, BB Officer and youth leader.

STATS

2014 saw a hard fought battle to retain his seat in the new super council, having previously served in on Ballymoney Borough council for over 20 years.

The 2014 local council elections saw Tom get 621 1st preference votes and was only elected with a final total of 913 votes, just slightly ahead of DUP’s Alan McLean who took the final seat in council. Both Tom and his running partner, Darryl Wilson, were elected without reaching the total.

MANDATE

-Tom has said that his priorities if elected will be health, education and the local community.

-As a member of the Policing Board & Community Safety Partnership, Tom will continue his work in lobbying and fighting against Anti-Social behaviour and would like to see an increase in the presence of the Police on the ground.
