Tributes have been paid to Aurelia Kelly, who sadly died whilst travelling in a vehicle involved in an RTC with a lorry yesterday afternoon on the Frosses Road Ballymoney.

The wife of Trevor Kelly—a minister in the Church of Ireland—was pronounced deceased at the scene despite the best efforts of the emergency service teams on scene.

A member of St Columnell’s & Portgleone Church of Ireland parish, the church posted a tribute to Mrs Kelly, saying: “As many will be already well aware our Parish lost a very dear friend and supporter yesterday.

“It was such shocking news to learn that Aurelia Kelly lost her life in a road traffic collision yesterday afternoon. Aurelia was so well known and loved throughout our congregation and her untimely passing will be hard on many.

“Our prayers are focused of course on her husband Trevor and on Aurelia’s children Andrew and Rebecca, and the rest of her close family and friends at this difficult time.”

Christopher Sherrard, a representative for Life After, wrote: “We are saddened to hear of the passing of Aurelia Kelly after she was involved in an RTC on the Frosses road near Ballymoney this afternoon.

“Could everyone please keep the Kelly family in your thoughts and prayers as they come to terms with this traumatic event,

“We at Life After offer our deepest sympathies to the family and wish you Gods richest blessings in the days and months ahead with the reassurance that we are there to offer support and assistance if or when required.”

Police confirmed the incident and Mrs Kelly’s death yesterday evening with Inspector Watt saying: “At around 2:50pm, it was reported that a car and a lorry were involved in the incident. The female driver of the car sadly died at the scene as a result of her injuries. A male passenger of the car was taken to hospital following the incident.

“The Frosses Road remains closed in both directions between the Drones Road roundabout and the Kilraughts Road roundabout, as motorists are advised to seek alternative main routes for their journey.

“Enquires are continuing and anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage or any other information, should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 993 04/11/21.”
