TV licence fee to increase for third consecutive year

It has been announced that the BBC will be increasing the TV licence fee yet again from April this year.
This will be the third year that there has been an increase in the licence fee, which will increase to £154.50.

The cost of a black and white licence will also increase to £52.00. Failing to pay the licence fee if caught could land you in court with a fine of up to £1000.
Currently anyone over 75 is exempt from paying for a TV licence, but the BBC caused controversy recently by suggesting that it could charge the over 75’s in the future. A consultation on this change is due to end on 12th February.
