PSNI officers were on patrol across the North Coast today at various tourist spots enforcing traffic violations, which resulting in several fines being issued to vehicles caught parking in dangerous positions.
An influx of visitors and tourists has saw a sharp rise in traffic disruption, mainly illegal parking, at tourist hotspots and in coastal town. Further inland attraction, like that of the Dark Hedges have also suffered, with campaigners calling for more enforcement by the PSNI.
After attending two popular visitor attractions earlier today, a PSNI spokesperson said:
“Police have issued a number of tickets today both at Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge and the Giants Causeway.
“Vehicles were parked in a dangerous position at both locations causing an obstruction to other road users, as well as blocking access to local residents.
“As a result a police vehicle was also damaged due to the manner in which vehicles were parked. Folks, when visiting these attractions please be mindful of where you leave your vehicles.”
