PM says ‘Tide is Turning’ as he returns to work this morning

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson didn’t waste any time getting down to business this morning, as he made a statement outside 10 Downing Street, after returning to work.

The PM had been ill for several weeks with COVID-19, first self isolating in an apartment in Downing Street, before having to be admitted to an ICU ward in Hospital due to his conditioning worsening.

On the steps of Downing Street, Mr Johnson spoke about the ‘tide turning’ on the fight against the virus but that this was just the ‘end of phase one’.

The PM began by apologising for being away from his desk for ‘far too long’ and thanked Dominic Rabb for standing in for him while he ws away, saying he did a ‘terrific job’. Boris Johnson also thanked the general public for their ‘sheer grit and gut’ that they have shown.

There was no indications from the PM that the lockdown and that the regulations would remain in place so not to risk a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finishing off his statement, Mr Johnson encouraged the nation to ‘keep going’ and to help protect the NHS to ‘save lives’.
