Debris found at sea believed to be from light aircraft

Police can confirm that debris found in the sea off Glenarm is believed to be from the microlight aircraft which was reported missing yesterday.
Inspector Michael McDonnell, of Ballycastle Neighbourhood Policing Team, said a yacht which had joined in the search effort found the debris earlier this afternoon.
He said: “Our thoughts are with the families of those involved. Specialist officers are providing support to the families at this very difficult time.
“The PSNI will continue to assist in this search operation and we will investigate this incident in partnership with other agencies.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have any information which could help in any way, to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.”
