56 year old charged with possession of firearm in ‘suspicious circumstances’

Detectives from PSNI’s Paramilitary Crime Task Force have charged a 56 year old man with possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances.

The Male was also charged with possession of articles for use in terrorism, possession of property for use in terrorism and support of a proscribed organisation. He is due to appear at Belfast MC on Monday 5th August. As is normal procedure all charges are reviewed by the PPS.

The man was arrested on Friday 2nd August at Musgrave police station following searches in the Turf Lodge area of West Belfast on Thursday night. A 48 year old man arrested in connection with the investigation has been released unconditionally.
