A body has been recovered from the River Foyle after a extensive search and rescue operation following a report of a female falling from the Foyle bridge.
The report was made shortly after 11pm on Monday evening at which point a multi agency search and rescue operation was put into action.
The including assistants from the Irish Coastguards rescue 118 helicopter.
Unfortunately a few hours later a body of a female, believed to be in her late 20’s, was found at the Lisahally Docks area on the river.
A spokesperson for the police said:
“Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a female, aged in her 20s, whose body was recovered from the River Foyle in Derry/Londonderry around 11pm last night, Monday 24 February.
“A post mortem examination will take place in due course to determine the cause of death.”
