Eason & Son Northern Ireland arm of the company have made the announcement today of its intentions are not be re-opening any of its stores here.
This will come as a blow to the seven stores trading in Northern Ireland, leaving all its 144 employees uncertain over their jobs.
In a statement, the company said: “Eason & Son (N.l.) Limited has today informed its 144 employees in Northern Ireland of its intention to commence a consultation process around proposals not to reopen its seven stores In Northern Ireland.
“The stores have been closed since the 23rd March because of Covid-19 and all employees are currently furloughed.
“The announcement follows a detailed review of the stores in Northern Ireland in the context of the devasting impact of Covid-19 on current and future trade and the implications of a number of other significant factors on the future prospects and sustainabitity of the business in Northern Ireland.”
