JUST IN: Ombudsman to investigation police officers as part of Greenvale Hotel tragedy

MCAULEY MULTIMEDIA...17 MARCH 2019...Two people have died following a St Patrick's Day party at a hotel in Cookstown, County Tyrone. Police said another two people were being treated in hospital - one in a critical condition - following the incident at the Greenvale Hotel. The hotel was hosting a party for young people to celebrate St Patrick's Day. Police said while the exact circumstances were still unknown, there were reports of a crush at the scene. Family members of all four people involved have been informed, the Police Service of Northern Ireland tweeted. The Police Ombudsman is to begin a criminal investigation pertaining to 5 police officers over alleged misconduct during the Greenvale Hotel tragedy.

Four of the officers were tasked to the hotel on the night of the tragedy in response to a report of a ‘crush’ incident.

As a result of the incident on March 17th this year, four young teenagers died, Morgan Barnard and Lauren Bullock were 17, and 16 year old Connor Currie.

The officers in question remain on duty and assistance Chief Constable Stephen Martin released the following.
